The Netmonkey Weekend Report first published in early 1998 as a weekly scoresheet for both the little respected couriers of the scene and the top distribution sites within the world. The report's founders felt that the competing publications were not up to scratch and published their own.

The report with a name change to the Netmonkey Weekly Report quickly evolved from a scoresheet into a general scene news publication with thorough reviews of game, video and application releases as well as scene group analysis. This fruition from a scoresheet into a magazine is not surprising considering one of the editors was also worked on the highly influential publication Inquisition from a few years earlier.
