The first issue of Wave appeared just after New Years at the start of 1996. The publication was produced as a programmed application by the German based group The Council. By issue 5 all references to The Council had been dropped and either the publication went independent or The Council disappeared. Issue 12 saw a major change in the user interface where Wave switched operating systems from MS-DOS to Microsoft Windows.

In the end Wave was never too successful as a publication as it seemed to be too quirky for many people's taste.
